Facial wound repair information

How do I look after my wound?

You may shower but do not immerse the wound.

Do not go swimming or use a hot tub in the first 2 weeks.

If you have stitches, the wound must be kept clean. Gently wipe the wound with water & apply a small amount of Vaseline over wound twice a day for 7 days.

If you have sticky stitches leave them in place for 7 days. If they are coming off gently push them back on.

If the wound becomes increasingly red, painful, has a discharge or opens up, contact us.

No contact sports for 8 – 10 weeks. The wound must be allowed sufficient time to heal.

The scar may be red / pink for the first 6 months as the healing process occurs.

It is important to keep the scar out of the sun while it is healing. Use sun block for protection.

I have concerns, what can I do?
